Have a HAPPY New Year

On a day early this spring , I stumbled on a song on Spotify. And hit repeat at least 7 times. I looked up the lyrics and thought – dang, this is it -- my song for 2020. Cause, when life gives you a pandemic hours after you launch a travel advisory … you best find a way to stay positive. But, staying in the positive “lane” is a daily choice … that on some days is very hard.

You might expect a Happy New Year post from me to entice you travel in 2021 with links to exotic locales, greatly missed European cities and teases for bucket list trips. You might expect me to share my gratitude for amazing clients, coworkers and industry suppliers. Or you’d expect me to share words of empathy for our personal and collective losses of 2020 – and how we’re grateful to bid this year adieu. But, I know there’s no need to entice you to travel – we are busting at the seams to go already. I hope my clients, coworkers, cohorts have heard my gratitude directly. And, I do not have the confidence  in my ability to form enough eloquent words to express the depth of my sympathy for this year of loss. Rather, I am sending what I think we all need right now on January 1st, 2021 – a little help to hear some good & happy in our ears.

We all have our own love languages. One of my oldies but goodies – making a mixtape. Those cassette’s a serious “love” commitment as it was a lot of work to assemble the perfect mix of songs, to painstakingly decide the progression, to try to impress with a few obscure tracks, to open & close with a “ringer” and to place that emotional “zinger.” Don’t even get me started on the time spent in simply naming it. DISCLOSURE: I have done none of that with this mix. The song progression only from the order that popped up on my Spotify and will not satisfy any of my prior criteria. My only qualifier: I envisioned myself packing a suitcase for that trip to < ! > and what would I want to listen to. Please, send me your “happy song” to add to the queue … I would be honored.

Hope these make you sway at the kitchen sink, dance-slide in your socks across the hardwood floor and sing into the imaginary mic … TURN IT UP!

Cheers to oodles of happiness in 2021 – in what you hear, where you go, what you do!
